Here are
step-by-step instructions for the installation of the Phone Jack Jtag
in your receiver. It is fairly simple and can be done in about 30-60
minutes depending on your skills. For best results, take the time to
read this carefully and follow the instructions in the order in which
they are written here without burning any steps.
WE ARE NOT IN
ANYWAY RESPONSIBLE OF DAMAGES YOU MAY CAUSE TO YOUR RECEIVER!
|
You can use the existing Phone Jack from the
Receiver to have it changed into Jtag Jack for easy access. |
|
Step 1). Open receiver, take the board out
and locate the Phone Jack (I used a 3100 for pics, but you can do the
same with all): If yours only has 4, just go and buy a
6 pin Jack and replace it. |
|
 |
Step 2). Locate the 6 pins from Phone Jack
and cut the 2 traces: |
 |
Below is a pick with the 6 pins numbered to coincide with the Phone Jack
connector pins: |
 |
Step 3).
Solder 6 wires long enough to reach the TSOP Pads. You can have
them longer as you can shorten them when you get to soldering to TSOP
Pads
|
 |
|
Step 4). From
pin 6 solder to the IRD case (Ground). |
 |
|
Step 5). Solder
wires to TSOP Pads and use the table for your Model IRD. Shorten wires
as you solder them, do not leave any extra lengths. |

|
Step 6). Now we'll make the actual Jtag: |
You need a D25 PC Parallel Port connector, 5 x 100 ohms Resistors, one 6
wire phone male connector, a 6 wire phone connector crimpier, about 10"
of 6 wire telephone cord, a case for D25 PC parallel port connector
and a pack of cigarettes. |
D25 - solder a straight wire between pin 18 and 25.
I will just let the pics speak for themselves:
